MEET RON SCHWARTZ
I bring over a decade of hands-on experience in clock repair, paired with a strong foundation in precision craftsmanship as a tool and die maker. My journey in mechanical artistry includes more than 25 years teaching machining technology at Thaddeus Stevens College, where I helped shape the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
I honed my clock repair skills under the mentorship of the late Larry Laird of Columbia, PA, whose expertise and passion for the craft deeply influenced my approach.
Combining technical precision with a profound respect for history, I specialize in restoring antique and mechanical clocks to their former glory. Each repair reflects my dedication to preserving the artistry and legacy of these timeless treasures.
WHERE IT BEGAN
My journey into clock repair began with a unique challenge—restoring a large tower clock in Lancaster, PA. Though my mechanical knowledge as a tool and die maker provided a solid foundation, I quickly realized I needed specialized expertise. I reached out to the National Watch and Clock Museum in Columbia, PA, where I was introduced to Larry Laird, a renowned clock repair expert who would become my mentor.
With Larry’s guidance, I successfully repaired the clock, restoring its function and its historical significance. This experience sparked my passion for clock repair, leading me to assist Larry with his projects. Over time, he entrusted me with his customer work, paving the way for me to establish myself in this craft. Today, I honor his legacy by continuing to restore and preserve these mechanical marvels.
In a world dominated by electronics and computers, there is something deeply rewarding about restoring a purely mechanical device to life.
For the past decade, I have found great satisfaction in repairing clocks. Despite their intricate mechanisms, clocks have an elegance in their simplicity—each part serves a clear purpose, making it a straightforward process of elimination to uncover the issue.
Every repair is an opportunity to preserve a piece of history, ensuring that these timeless artifacts continue to function and inspire for generations to come.
PASSION. PRECISION. PERSONALIZED APPROACH.
While many businesses focus on efficiency and volume, I focus on partnership and education. I take the time to explain the inner workings of your clock, sharing its simple complexity and the craftsmanship that makes it unique.
Every customer is treated as a collaborator, not just a client. I believe in building relationships founded on trust and mutual appreciation for the artistry of mechanical timepieces. This partnership ensures that you feel as invested in the restoration process as I am, creating a shared sense of accomplishment and respect for the history your clock represents.
Additionally, in an age dominated by disposable technology, I offer something rare—a commitment to preserving and celebrating the enduring beauty of mechanical design.
